Recapping the plot of this movie would include unnecessary spoilers, so I’m not going to, this time. Being surprised is half the fun. The important callouts have been in the trailer. This movie is about Deadpool, Wolverine, and the TVA (Loki lore).
Marvel has been underdelivering in their content lately, making television I was excited about and turning it into shit by the time you realize there’s only two episodes left and everything they previously set up and explained now has to be wrapped up in a rush. (I’m still upset about Secret Invasion). So, I wasn’t sure what to expect going in to this one.
Deadpool & Wolverine is so unserious. This movie was so funny that I was genuinely in a better mood by the end. The opening scene alone had me laughing out loud and I only continued to throughout the entire movie. Even with all the laughing, the heartfelt part near the end almost made me cry.
The cameos in the movie got me so hyped, though there is lore attached to them. The song choices were well picked and somewhat funny depending on the scene. The breaking of the fourth wall is one of my favorite parts of this movie and Ryan Reynolds, as Deadpool, does so frequently. The fight scenes were well choreographed.
There’s a lot of blood and violence, some sexual innuendos, and a few jokes that I rolled my eyes at because of what the joke was about.
There’s no poorly composed CGI. The plot is there, but a little questionable, which I didn’t mind because everything else made up for it. And yes, we’re still dealing with multiverse antics, but it was handled in a way that made enough sense and was making me laugh the entire time.
Overall, I loved this movie and I’m hoping to go see it again soon. That’s how much I liked it.
