Bubble by Jordan Morris, Sarah Morgan, and Tony Cliff

SYNOPSIS

In this world, a bubble surrounds a town to keep out the Brush, which is considered alien wilderness. Life in the bubble is supposed to be safe, while life in the Brush is tumultuous and adventurous, leading to a life of uncertainty. As a kid, human Morgan ditched her outside life to assimilate within.

Lately, there’s been more attacks within the bubble from Imps (aliens outside the bubble). The company Morgan works for launches a Postmates like app called Huntr, where workers go on Imp hunts when they’re reported.

What could happen?

MINI RECAP AND REVIEW

This graphic novel is unserious. It’s based off a podcast, which I haven’t listened to, but for the most part I didn’t feel like I was missing anything.

Underneath the humor, there’s commentary on the gig economy and the dealings of corporations. The world itself was interesting to me and most of the characters were fun. If there’s another one, I’d read it.

Read for:

🫧 Cool graphics

🫧 Sci-fi vibes

🫧 Humor

🫧 Found family

🫧 Satire

🫧 “Superhero”/ monster-hunting
