This is the first book in a potential series, and is a dark romantic comedy. It’s told from the first person of both Deirdre and Cèsar.

While watching her, Cèsar becomes infatuated with Deirdre, and ends up making contact with her, despite is better judgement.

This book had me laughing. The conversations and some of their internal thoughts were funny. Though it has dark aspects, the tone is relatively lighthearted. It’s appropriately labeled a dark comedy.

The banter between the two leads had me invested. Deirdre is aware that she has a stalker, though is unclear of their intentions. As the story progresses it becomes a flirtatious and sexy game between the two of them. It is an open door story.

Cèsar definitely falls first and is delusional, but in a way I enjoyed. Some of the things he did I was like, “now why would you do that 😂), but it was usually coupled with something that was sweet and thoughtful. Although Deirdre was being stalked, there were times she was definitely in control.

They also each have their own individual challenges that they’re going through, which rounded them out as characters.

I liked how the story came full circle in the end.
