This is 110 pages of poetry about heartbreak, betrayal, self-worth, and lessons in love. I felt the hurt and heartbreak within the verses. I felt disappointment and hope and a desire to understand along with some self reflection.
These poems were vulnerable, displaying a woman’s journey realizing she’s been accepting less than what she deserves in love, and coping with the different feelings that come with that from betrayal to heartbreak to loneliness to being in a good space again.
I think some of what is discussed can really help women either find peace with some of their choices in love or recognize their own worth.
Alongside love, some of the poems touch on grief and death, motherhood, miscarriage, loneliness, and how certain mindsets can be passed down through generations (whether intentionally or not).
I give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I was touched reading it and really empathized with the narrator’s (maybe the author’s) journey. I also really appreciate the vulnerability, because it can be hard to admit to certain things that were written.
