SYNOPSIS
Eden Lowell is sick of the predatory systems billionaires have put in place. She lives in the Marshes, formerly Miami, and has to hunt for food. Water is scarce, with prices are rising every day, and she feels something for her best friend, whose family helped raised her. On top of that, the Cruisers are spreading their propaganda through discounts on water. Something’s gotta give.

RECAP AND REVIEW
Thank you to the author, Random House and Joy Revolution, and NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Out October 14th, 2025!
This is currently a standalone young adult, dystopian book told in the first person of Eden.
I couldn’t put this book down. The fast pace kept my attention but also the world itself was a cautionary tale of sorts. We’re placed thirty or so years in the future, post flooding due to climate change. Billionaires left everyone else behind to set sail on yachts, but still control the water source.
The book had timely commentary about climate change, classism and privilege, and capitalism in that way. The heavy tone is cut through with the romance and dating competition that’s introduced, both of which only aid in the themes of the book.
I fully believed in the love triangle within this book and had no idea who she was going to end up until the point came where she made a decision. I would’ve been satisfied with either choice, but I was rooting for one more than the other.
Also, the big reveal I didn’t see coming until shortly before it was revealed, and even then I had no idea the motivation would be what it was. There’s a lesson there, but going into detail would lead to spoilers. 😉

Overall, I give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. This book not only got me out of a mini slump, but I also couldn’t put it down at one point. I’m actually obsessed with this world and the events that take place in this book.
