RECAP AND REVIEW
This is the first book in a paranormal romance series. It’s told from a few perspectives, but mainly Micah’s in the first person.
Micah is understandably tired of being overlooked. She knows she’s powerful and can feel her magic, but is constantly being told to pull back by her father and isn’t chosen to officially train with the Angels year after year.
I found this book to be pretty fast paced, especially when she gets to Hellnight Academy. I was engaged, wanting to know where it would go and what would happen next.
I liked the world building. There’s a clear, light vs. dark, Angels vs. Demons theme and I’m curious to know how this will come into play as we get into the next book.
This book is mainly set up for what’s to come. There’s some conflicts arising that were entertaining, but it feels like we’re scraping the surface.
This is a why choose book. My only real critique is that the relationships are pretty instant, though there is a reason and the dynamics raise the stakes of the situations Micah is in.
And Rook! Lowkey made me mad for randomly disappearing and popping up at the worst moments.
