RECAP AND REVIEW

Thank you to NetGalley and the author, for an arc.

Happy release day!

This book has some sports romance and mystery elements with dark academia vibes and it ends on a cliffhanger.

I would say the that the romance between Luna and Zayden is at the forefront. Luna “hates” him and Zayden is indifferent about almost everyone, except her. They have a rocky start, but are able to turn their relationship around.

I had a good time with the romance between them and enjoyed the ways they opened up and got to know each other. I believed in the characters backstories and the growing feelings between the two.

I was happy to see Luna again and learn more about her and her childhood through her own perspective.

Though Zayden and Luna’s backgrounds are different, they are both tragic in different ways and were both lonely, using their time on the ice as an escape. Their connection in that way was beautiful. Their cabin stays and secret moments on the ice rink are my favorite parts of the story.

Aside from the romance, there’s a university secret that an anonymous texter wants uncovered through cryptic messages to Luna and Zayden.

The idea of it and what’s uncovered was really interesting and I wish we got more of the mystery of it all. It felt a little low stakes, until what happens at the end, but since there is a second book, I’m sure more will be revealed there.

Read for:

⛸️ Figure skater x hockey player

⛸️ She “hates” him

⛸️ He nurses her back to health

⛸️ Secrets unburied

⛸️ Snowed in

⛸️ He falls hard

OVERALL

Overall, I give this a 4.25 out of 5 stars. There were parts of it that could’ve been delved into a little more, but this book explores a lot. I was hooked reading it and can’t wait to see what happens next!
