RECAP AND REVIEW

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Bramble and Tor Publishing for an arc.

Out now! Available on Kindle Unlimited.

This is the third book in a romance series. Check out my review for the first and second books.

I’m so sad that it’s over 😭. Like many others, I have loved this series from the beginning and it’s hard to say goodbye! This series has secured itself as one of my all time favorites and this book was the perfect end to the series.

Though these are all technically standalones, I really recommend reading all of them in order.

This book follows Jazzy and in the previous books, we learn her aunt’s health was declining and she was away taking care of her. In this book, we get her point of view of her time away and what’s going on her life leading up to Aaliyah’s birthday party and after her party.

I sympathized with Jazz who was back in a town she hated, a town full of people who bullied and stifled her, but she did it so she could take care of her Aunt Addy who she loved with her whole being. The moments between Jazz and Aunt Addy were special, with lots of gems about life. The whole situation was handled with care. I really appreciated the depiction and reasonings behind Jazz isolating and trying to cope with everything was going on because it was real. My heart hurt for her throughout the story.

This book we also get more of the trio together and I loved to see it! Their friendship is full of laughs and lightheartedness, but also moments of real advice and support. Their friendship is everything, has been from the first book, and this one only had me loving them even more 😭.

The romance in this book was it too! Jazz and Lamar just understood each other from the moment they met and it was really all by chance. It was giving meant to be. Lamar is the definition of “if he wanted to he would” showing us that actions can speak just as loudly as words. And to be fr, he was very patient and never wavered with wanting to do whatever he could to be there for Jazz.

Overall

Overall, I give this a 5 out of 5 stars. There were some moments where I thought it was running a little long, but having finished it, I don’t think anything should’ve been condensed or cut out. We got a complete story and a satisfying ending to the series and I’m just so thankful Danielle Allen wrote it.

Fat representation and seeing fat Black women being unapologetically loved on is important!
